Tariff

How we calculate your bill

We bill our work either:

• By the hour or,
• By the type of project, e.g. writing an A4 leaflet.

How we bill your job depends on what it involves. If your job does not fit with a standard copywriting project such as writing an A4 leaflet, we will bill by the hour.

What’s included?

Our charges for standard copywriting tasks (such as leaflets) include a limited amount of time and work that is needed to complete the copy as well as the actual writing process. This work may include:

• Meetings with you to discuss your requirements
• Telephone calls and e-mails
• Internet-based or other kinds of research
• Up to three drafts or re-writes per project.

In some cases, e.g. a job requiring a lot of research, extra charges will apply. We will tell you about these. They will also be detailed on your quotation.

If you are billed by the hour, the hourly rate is all-inclusive.

Quotations

Before starting work on your copy, Black & Write will prepare a quotation based on an initial conversation and on the information that you supply to us. We will ask you to sign a copy of the quotation. This confirms to us that you are happy to pay the charges detailed and that you agree to our Terms of Business. We may then require payment before starting work – see our Payment Terms below.

One Stop Shop (Value-added marketing communications services)

If you choose to take advantage of Black & Write’s value-added services, these will be quoted and billed separately from our copywriting services. See our One Stop Shop for full details of services available. We normally require payment in advance for value-added services.

Payment terms

If we’ve known you for a while, Black & Write may offer you a credit account at our discretion. Otherwise, we may require part or full payment in advance. We prefer to accept payments by electronic bank transfer (BACS). We also accept payments by cheque and cash.

Retainers

If you have regular copywriting requirements, why not take advantage of our retainer deals? These can be based on a certain number or projects or a set number of hours to be worked per month. Retainers are cheaper than paying for the same number of jobs or hours individually. We’ll even offer you the first month FREE when you sign up for at least a year! Contact us for more details.
